What is holding you back from taking the leap into your next stage in life? Let’s call it fear. It could be fear of the unknown, fear for what might be lost, or fear of what others might think or believe about you. But what is beyond that fear? Most of the time, what we have to fear in taking that next step resolves itself. The universe has a way of guiding us to exactly where we need to be.
On a personal note, I’ve had difficulty hearing my entire life in one ear. Because of past surgeries traditional hearing aids don’t work well for me. Recently I had an opportunity to have the surgery for a cochlear implant. With an implant like this the success rate is much higher for someone like me where traditional hearing aids don’t work well. The process involves drilling a small indent in the skull and screwing in a small device so sound can conduct from the bone to the ear. After that heals there is a small hearing aid device that attaches over the skin with a magnet. Surgery is never something to take lightly. There is pain and a recovery period.
When considering the surgery some of my thoughts were, what if people stare at the device in such an odd place on my head, or what if insurance doesn’t cover it all? At this point I had lived with my hearing loss all of my life and I have coping mechanisms such as partial lip reading to deal with it. I was mentally talking myself out of it and making excuses not to have it done. Maybe the life I am familiar with is better than what the alternative might be?
Moving Forward
Over the course of a couple of weeks I took the time each day to envision what I wanted my outcome to be and how social situations would play out. Not only that, but how would I feel while in these situations being able to clearly hear. I thought about how, in a larger gathering, I could clearly hear the conversation happening at the other end of the table. I could feel the humor in the conversation. And I could engage in the conversation with the confidence that I fully understood what was being discussed. And, of course, each day I did some research on the surgery and the cochlear hardware that would be used.
Over time my fears mostly dissolved into determination for a positive outcome. I decided to have the surgery. I set intentions for a quick recovery and good results. Today, after having the surgery well over a year ago I can say it was well worth it! I know that my visualizations and intentions contributed to my positive outcome. The fears that I had when trying to decide to have the surgery were unfounded. The entire process went smoothly.
Looking back, I did not try to control the entire process. I imagined the results in the light that I chose without the need to see how the surgery was done. When you can “see” the outcome and “feel” the emotion of an outcome your unconscious mind will influence the actions you take to get there. The universe understands that, yes, this is what you want, and brings you the circumstances that align with that outcome.
Actionable Items
The next time you experience fear toward the unknown consider these actions:
- After doing your own research, is it a good or responsible decision?
- What does your outcome look like? What does it feel like? Set an intention without needing to control how you reach that outcome.
- What small steps can you take daily, starting today? Write down the actionable items you can take that will bring you closer to the outcome.
- Action creates the momentum to propel you forward. Set aside a time each day to work on these actions, no matter how small, stay consistent. Reaffirm your intention each day. See and feel the outcome daily.
You may be pleasantly surprised at how well your situation unfolds for you. And those fears you’ve been holding onto are just temporary blocks that will dissolve. This doesn’t mean you won’t discover obstacles along the way but perhaps they will lead you to paths you could never have imagined otherwise.

Reading about moving past fear is one thing — building it into your actual life is another. That’s exactly the kind of work I do alongside clients in spiritual coaching: taking these ideas out of the blog post and into your real, day-to-day rhythm, with someone in your corner as you go.
If you’re newer to this, meditation guidance is often the gentlest place to start — it’s the foundation a lot of this other work builds on. And if you’re feeling stuck, drained, or just sense something needs to shift on a deeper level, energy healing might be worth exploring.
No pressure, no sales pitch — just an open door if you’re curious. You can see everything I offer on the services page, or simply reach out in a 15 minute discovery call and we can talk about what might fit where you are right now.
